eSMS allows for multiple product lines. A product line can have one or more categories. Each category has one or more products, subcategories, package types and features.

The product hierarchy is found by clicking on the Products item under the Admin menu.

The product hierarchy in eSMS consists of one or more product lines.

  1. A product line consists of one or more categories that share the same cash discount schedule.  A product line could be used to represent a particular brand of products.
  2. A category is a group of related products and product options which can be used as a seed type like corn, soybeans, wheat, alfalfa, tomatoes, etc.

Under each category, products are defined using the following components:

  1. A product is a particular hybrid or variety.
  2. A sub category is used to define options available for a particular product.  It could be a seed size, genetic trait or other option.
  3. A package type is used if products are available in different unit sizes such as a bag, hard box, mini bulk or bulk.
  4. A feature is another option for defining a specific product and can be used for defining different seed treatments that are available for a product.
  5. Each combination of options is used to define a particular product and make it available by checking the check box.

Important note: At least one check box in each area is required for the product to be able to be added to an order or a shipment.

eSMS offers three tier pricing by tech zone for each tech provider.  Each component that makes up a product has a price associated with it.  This is particularly helpful when working with seed treatments.

By selecting a category, the products will be listed just right of the hierarchy tree that will allow to select which combination of products are available.

Important note: At least one check box in each area is required for the product to be able to be added to an order or a shipment.
